During June, 2004 CVS appeared at a Planning Board Meeting and at a ZBA Meeting, to show plans for the redevelopment of the old Crosby's Market and CVS store on Essex Street.

The initial plans call for the renovation of the old Crosby's Market and conversion to a new CVS store. The present liquor store would be torn down, for space for a new drive-through for prescriptions only.

The CVS store would take the space occupied by the old Crosby's Market. The store front would be moved out into the parking lot about eight feet.

The initial rendering for the new store is HERE

Historic Salem, Inc. is working with the CVS team to encourage a front facade that would fit in with Salem's architecture, considering that it is on one of the entrance roads to the city. CVS is willing to modify the initial facade and should present some new ideas to the Planning Board.

The old CVS store would be leased out for another purpose. At present the landlord announced he has no tenant identified.

We are endeavoring to obtain a copy of the site plan for viewing.
